Tour Notes
- The PGA Tour visits the Honda Classic this week. If you're looking for a sleeper for your fantasy team, we've got some candidates. These are the golfers in the Honda Classic field with the most PGA Tour Top 10s without a victory:
- Harrison Frazar, 31 career Top 10s
- Brettt Quigley, 27
- Tim Clark, 22
- Briny Baird, 19
- Joe Ogilvie, 17
- Harrison Frazar, 31 career Top 10s
- Nicholas Thompson won the HSBC New Zealand PGA Championship on the Nationwide Tour on Sunday, local time. Then he hopped on a series of planes to try to Monday qualify for the Honda Classic.
Thompson boarded a Qantas flight to Los Angeles a few hours after winning the HSBC tournament in New Zealand. The flight arrived in Los Angeles at 10:30 a.m. local time on Sunday morning. After a long wait for a seat, Thompson finally got onto the red-eye to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., leaving Los Angeles at 10:15 p.m.
That flight finally arrived in Florida at 6 a.m. - less than four hours prior to his tee time in the Honda Classic Monday qualifier. But Thompson, a native of Fort Lauderdale, made it the course on time.
Unfortunately, all that travel wasn't too good for his game. Although he still managed to shoot par, Thompson's efforts went for naught. Marco Dawson (64), Jay Williamson and Scott Parel (65s) and Bubba Dickerson (66) earned the four available spots.
